Birthday Haul: Part Two

Post date: Thursday, 1 May 2014

A few days ago I posted a Haul, sharing with you some of the things I was lucky enough to receive for my birthday. Of course, after every girl's special day there comes a lot of shopping; we have to find somewhere to deposit all those notes that flutter so generously out of cards from long lost relatives, right?!
Maybe purchasing just three items of clothing, a bag, a pair of shoes, a lipstick and a nail varnish doesn't seem that extreme, but I seriously felt like I'd gone rogue as I crept from shop to shop, trying to resist all the gorgeous Summer stock.

However, I did manage to get all of this for around £60, because I'm a good shopper, people! I get bored of bags pretty quickly, so I tend to buy mine from Primark to avoid wasting money seeing as I only use them for a month or two. There's no point spending a ton on a loud or kooky piece that is hard to style either, as you won't get enough wear out of it to justify the expense. As for staple items, go for the slightly pricier shops like Topshop or Zara, because a good quality jumper or pair of jeans is well worth the investment.
But that's enough of my savvy shopping 101 for now... On with the purchases!

I decided it was time to inject a little summer (and colour!) in to my wardrobe, and couldn't resist this little crop top from Topshop. They have them in a whole range of summery shades and are a complete steal at only £8 a pop! I also picked up a skort from Primark; the tropical print grabbed my attention and I was pleasantly surprised at how well it fitted. I tend to wear plain bottoms with patterned tops so this is just what I needed to switch things up a little. A new handbag was also on the cards, so I chose this one from Primark as it's a little smaller than all my others, and the perfect size to fit my SLR, purse and keys. These New Look sandals were a complete impulse buy; I'm usually quite offended by my feet and have never owned such an open shoe in my life. However, it really was love at first sight; they go with skirts, shorts, dresses and even rolled up skinny jeans! They are definitely about to become my most worn item. Finally, I bought this kimono in Pull And Bear. I'm not a huge fan of Pull And Bear, but this bundle of floaty, summery goodness just couldn't be left in the store!

Whilst left alone in Superdrug, I discovered a few make-up brands that I'd never heard of before. I very rarely venture over to Superdrug from Boots, so I was amazed to find a whole array of lipsticks, nail varnishes, blushers, foundations, mascaras and eyeshadows on offer for under £5. I have to admit, I was a little nervous (ok, terrified) to see cosmetics so cheap and so I only purchased two products to sort of test the water, if you will. I'd been wanting a nude nail varnish for a while, so I picked one up from the Gosh range for just £1.99; I also helped myself to a berry coloured lipstick from the Look range, for a mere £3.50. I'm yet to try these bad boys out, but if they impress me I'll be heading back to Superdrug more often!

I officially shopped til I dropped yesterday, so I think it's safe to say I won't be making any more purchases for a while... unless it's food. I can always buy food.

Have you treated yourself to anything lately?
