Charity Shop Haul

Post date: Monday, 25 November 2013

I'm not sure what the official laws of blogging say, but I'm pretty sure you have to have more than 3 items to do a haul post. But hey, rules were made to be broken and managing to find 3 decent items in a Bristol charity shop is such an achievement that I had to do a post about it.

I went to my local high street today with the intentions of picking up a new mascara, but after that mission failed I decided it couldn't hurt to take a peek in a few of the charity shops. The first four were a disappointment; unflattering tartan skirts and frumpy chocolate-stained jumpers galore. However, in the fifth I stuck gold.
I was instantly drawn to a large amount of pink velvet I could see hanging on one of the rails. Upon further inspection I discovered it was a size 20 blouse, which I instantly started styling in my head as an oversized t-shirt dress. The colour might be a little garish but I'm sure everyone will get over it.
Next to it was a little black velvet vest top with gorgeous gold stitching around the bottom; it's not the kind of thing I would usually pick up, in fact the first thing I thought when I saw it was "ooh that looks like something one of my friends would wear" (Sarah - I'm talking about you!), but I decided to go ahead and buy it anyway as I thought it might be nice to wear on Christmas or New Years.
Finally, my eyes honed in on a "Pins and Needles" label attached to a light pink top. An Urban Outfitters item for £4.85? Yes please. I vaguely remember seeing this top when it was in store but it was priced at something ridiculous like £38 so I never even considered buying it, but in perfect condition and for an 1/8th of the price I couldn't resist!

Pink velvet blouse - £4.50

Black velvet vest - £2.50

Pins and Needles jumper - £2.85

So there it is, my "haul". I'm extremely pleased with these three items and can't wait to start wearing them! What are the charity shops in your local area like? Have you grabbed any bargains recently?
