It's the start of a new month and that means it's time to review last month's favourites! Last month I enjoyed a lot of beauty products, so have a peek at these bad boys...
I think I'm a bit late jumping on the Barry M bandwagon, but alas here I am, the proud owner of 7 Barry M Nail Paints (all of which I purchased in the last 6 weeks). At only £2.99 a piece and an extensive range of beautiful shades to choose from, how could anyone resist these little pots of joy? Boots currently has a 3-for-2 offer on all make up at the moment, meaning you can get three of these bad boys for only £5.98! What's more is, they could definitely hold their own against more pricey brands such as Revlon and No7. I used "Peach Melba" for the first time two days ago, and it is yet to chip (this is a massive deal for me as nail polish usually begins to flake off about 5 hours after I've applied it). Barry M has already dominated my nail varnish collection and I don't doubt I'll be picking up a new one every time I go in to Boots now. That's ok, right?
Elizabeth Arden Intervene Foundation - £25.50
I purchased this foundation quite a while ago, and have only started to utilise it recently as Winter approaches. I have experimented with a few different foundations in the past and always found them to leave my skin not looking like... skin. However, this one leaves skin looking dewy and even. I guess this taught me that investing in a slightly more expensive foundation is definitely worth it as the quality is significantly higher. I'm not a massive foundation-wearer anyway, I only tend to apply it for special occasions or if I'm having a particularly rubbish skin day, but being able to reach for a good quality foundation on those days really does make a difference.
Maybelline The Falsies Volume Express Mascara - £7.99
I think I was also a bit late to join the Maybelline The Falsies party; it seems to be so many people's staple mascara but I just never thought to purchase it. But that might be because I'm a bit weird with mascara, I use one until it runs out and then I just buy whatever one is on offer in Boots, I don't think I've ever re-purchased a mascara because I've never found one that's really impressed me. However, The Falsies is a great little mascara and is rather reasonably priced. I'm not saying I've found the mascara to answer all my prayers, but it has certainly served me well over the last six weeks and has given me my money's worth. It does volumaize and lengthen lashes better than a lot of mascaras I've used in the past, but I'm still yearning for something that creates real show-stopping lashes. Maybe I'm just fussy, but if any of you have any recommendations please let me know!
Revlon Lip Butter in Wild Watermelon - £7.99
Revlon Lip Butter's honestly answer all my prayers. I love wearing lipstick but always suffer from the age old problems of it drying out my lips, or it rubbing off and me not having a mirror to reapply it. So, when I heard various beauty YouTubers talking about how moisturising and pigmented Revlon Lip Butters are, I had to give them a try. They don't come cheap at £7.99 a pop, but I think they're worth every penny. Applying them feels like applying a lip balm; nourishing, moisturising and no need for a mirror. However they are highly pigmented and leave you with dewy, colourful lips. They also last a lot longer than other lipsticks I own, making them pretty much my perfect lip product. So far I have only purchased one shade, as I'm pretty fussy about what colours I wear on my lips, but I'm sure more will soon sneak their way in to my collection.
Collection Blush and Highlight Cream Duo - £4.19
Last but not least is the Colletion Blush and Highlight Cream Duo. Now, I have a bit of a complex about buying Collection products; I think it's because it reminds me of when me and my friends were 13 and just getting in to make up, and would spend our allowances on a Collection neutral eye shadow duo or a Collection clear mascara. However, I have been dying to experiment with cream blushes and highlighters, and so I wanted to purchase a relatively cheap one to begin with. This product really surprised me, the blush is nicely pigmented and easy to apply whilst the highlighter is quite shimmery so is more suitable for nights out. Both leave you with dewy and radiant looking skin, and so I definitely think I'll be repurchasing this despite it reminding me of my former cringey 13-year-old self.
